Ingredients
- 1 prime rib roast (bone-in)
- Salt
- Pepper
- Garlic powder
- Onion powder
- Olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
- Season the prime rib roast generously with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Rub olive oil over the entire roast.
- Place the roast in a roasting pan and cook in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
- Lower the oven temperature to 325°F (163°C) and continue to cook until the desired doneness is reached (about 90 to 120 minutes for medium rare).
- Remove from the oven and let it rest for 20-30 minutes before slicing.
- For a nice sear, heat a skillet on the stove over high heat and sear the roast for a few minutes on each side before serving.
Notes
Use a meat thermometer to check internal temperature: 125°F (52°C) for rare, 135°F (57°C) for medium rare, and 145°F (63°C) for medium. Letting the roast rest helps retain juices.
