Description

A comforting and hearty dish featuring tender pork chops layered over creamy, cheesy scalloped potatoes, perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

  • 5 potatoes (white or Yukon Gold)
  • 5 pork chops
  • 1 onion (sliced or diced)
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3 cups Cheddar cheese (shredded)
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: chives or green onions, seasoning salt, garlic salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease a baking dish.
  2. Peel and thinly slice the potatoes, about 1/4 inch thick.
  3. Slice or dice the onion.
  4. Shred the Cheddar cheese.
  5. In a large bowl, mix the potatoes, onions, cheese, milk, and seasonings until well combined.
  6. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and dot with butter.
  7. Arrange the pork chops on top of the potato mixture.
  8. Bake for 50-55 minutes, flipping the pork chops halfway through.
  9. Check that the pork is cooked through and the potatoes are tender. If needed, bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, covering with foil to prevent the pork from drying out.
  10. Let the casserole rest for 5-10 minutes before serving to allow the sauce to thicken slightly.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. To reheat, place in the oven at 350°F until warmed through.
