Description

A classic favorite, this banana bread is moist and flavorful, perfect for breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. Cream together the butter, sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract and sour cream.
  4. Add the mashed bananas and mix until combined.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  7. Fold in the chopped walnuts if using.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  9. Bake for 60-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  10. Let the bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For best flavor, use very ripe bananas. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days.
