Description

Delicious homemade egg rolls that are customizable and easy to make, perfect for snacks or appetizers.

Ingredients

  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 2 cups shredded cabbage
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1 cup cooked protein (pork, chicken, shrimp, or tofu)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 810 egg roll wrappers
  • 1 egg, beaten (for sealing)
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Heat sesame oil in a skillet. Sauté garlic and ginger for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  2. Add your choice of cooked protein and cook until browned.
  3. Stir in cabbage, carrots, green onions, soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Cook until the vegetables are slightly softened. Allow the mixture to cool.
  4. Place a portion of the filling on the bottom of an egg roll wrapper. Fold the bottom over the filling, then fold in the sides, and roll up tightly. Seal the edge with beaten egg.
  5. Heat oil in a frying pan to 375°F. Fry the rolls for 2–3 minutes on each side until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
  6. Alternatively, bake the egg rolls at 400°F for 15–20 minutes or air fry them at 375°F for 10–12 minutes for a healthier option.

Notes

Ensure the filling is not too hot when wrapping to prevent tearing the wrappers. Use a little water to seal the edges if you don’t have beaten egg.
