Description

A fun and easy way to enjoy the classic taste of cheeseburgers in bite-sized form, perfect for parties or family dinners.


Ingredients

  • 2 lb lean ground beef (90/10 or 93/7 fat content)
  • 1/2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 large yellow onion, finely diced
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 8 slices medium cheddar cheese
  • 6 oz medium cheddar, shredded (or more sliced cheese)
  • 24 dinner rolls (or 2 packs of 12)
  • 2 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted, plus more to grease baking sheet
  • 1 Tbsp sesame seeds


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Butter the bottom of a rimmed baking sheet.
  3. In a large skillet over medium/high heat, add olive oil and diced onion. Then, add the ground beef.
  4. Season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Sauté until the beef is cooked through.
  5. Spoon off any excess fat and mix in the mayonnaise.
  6. Cut the dinner rolls in half and place the bottom halves on the baking sheet.
  7. Layer with sliced cheese, then the ground beef mixture, and top with shredded cheddar.
  8. Place the top halves of the rolls cut-side down, brush with melted butter, and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes until the cheese is melted and the tops are golden.

Notes

Serve warm with a variety of condiments such as ketchup, mustard, lettuce, or pickles. Great as a main dish or appetizer.
