Description
A fun and easy way to enjoy the classic taste of cheeseburgers in bite-sized form, perfect for parties or family dinners.
Ingredients
- 2 lb lean ground beef (90/10 or 93/7 fat content)
- 1/2 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 large yellow onion, finely diced
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 8 slices medium cheddar cheese
- 6 oz medium cheddar, shredded (or more sliced cheese)
- 24 dinner rolls (or 2 packs of 12)
- 2 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted, plus more to grease baking sheet
- 1 Tbsp sesame seeds
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Butter the bottom of a rimmed baking sheet.
- In a large skillet over medium/high heat, add olive oil and diced onion. Then, add the ground beef.
- Season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Sauté until the beef is cooked through.
- Spoon off any excess fat and mix in the mayonnaise.
- Cut the dinner rolls in half and place the bottom halves on the baking sheet.
- Layer with sliced cheese, then the ground beef mixture, and top with shredded cheddar.
- Place the top halves of the rolls cut-side down, brush with melted butter, and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes until the cheese is melted and the tops are golden.
Notes
Serve warm with a variety of condiments such as ketchup, mustard, lettuce, or pickles. Great as a main dish or appetizer.
